The Property Hotspot: It’s Not London
Birmingham is fast becoming a property investment hotspot. A quick visit to the city will put any doubts to bed, with cranes and major developments around every corner. So what is it that makes Birmingham a property investment hotspot?
There are a multitude of factors at play here in the Midlands, let’s take a look at a few of the major players.
The Population Boom
In 2001 the population of Birmingham steadily sat at 977,000. This has increased gradually, year on year to the level it is today. By 2039 analysts predict the population will hit 1.3million. A higher population means a greater demand for housing.
Changing Opinions
Birmingham has long been seen as a somewhat grey city (minus the redbrick). Projects like the Grand Central station, the Library of Birmingham, Paradise and more are set to flip opinions like these on their head. The core of the city is planned to be increased by 25%. Birmingham is determined to become a cultural centre and its multicultural population is sure to see that dream become a reality.
A Hub For Professionals Services
The Paradise development is looking to introduce over 1.8million square foot of premium office space – paving the way for Birmingham to house the professional services firms necessary for Birmingham to attain its title of the Professional Services Hub outside of London.
Infrastructure Restructure
Birmingham’s infrastructure is going through a ‘big bang moment’ in its history. The HS2 project, when completed, will allow commuters from Manchester and London to arrive in the Birmingham city centre in under an hour. Bringing new talent and professionals from across the country. Metrolink will bring a somewhat disconnected city together by linking areas and providing options for commuters across the city to get to work.
These are just a few of the many, many factors that are making Birmingham a wildly exciting city to invest in. We’re proud to play our part in the evolution of Birmingham and we’d love to hear from you – whether you’re an investor or developer. .
